Three big poppy-like blooms with dotted seed centers rise above broad leaves on tall stems. Medium — great for kids.
Real poppies blaze in scarlet, orange, and coral pink, though garden varieties also come in white and soft peach, so pick a warm family and commit. The dotted seed centers should stay dark — near-black or deep plum — with a thin gold ring around them. Broad leaves suit a blue-green, darker than the tall stems behind them.
Poppy petals are thin as tissue, and light seems to glow through them. Copy that by coloring the petal bases two shades deeper than the tips, using short strokes that follow each petal’s folds. A few petals can even be left with a pale rim, as if the sun is catching their edges.
