A horse walking beside a wooden fence, with rolling hills in the background. Medium — best for kids.
Rolling hills are a perspective lesson in disguise: color the nearest hill the richest green, the middle hill a little lighter, and the far hill lightest of all, and the scene instantly gains depth. A bay horse — red-brown body, black mane, tail, and lower legs — stands out against all that green.
The fence crossing the picture is your middle ground, so give it warm, woody browns and slightly darker posts. If you want a time of day, wash the sky pale peach near the hills for early morning, or add long soft shadows from the fence rails with a light gray pencil.
